Volunteer Work at Vibrant Gujarat 2015

Became Host to Canadian Delegation during Vibrant Gujarat 2015

By: Miss Ayushi Shukla, Vishvet Volunteer Guide
Date: 7th Feb.2015

I am Ayushi Shukla a student of M.Com. at S.D. school of commerce, Ahmedabad. I am thankful to our head of the department Dr. V. Chari with who’s reference I got this wonderful opportunity to join a program which was organized by an NGO named “Vishvet Foundation” based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The main motive of Vishvet Foundation is to encourage the youth towards the cultural exchange activities.

The program was "Became Volunteer Guide to Foreign Guests during Vibrant Gujarat Global Business Summit 2015 from 10th Jan. to 13th Jan. 2015 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. My task was to provide hosting and giving guidelines to the Canadian delegates which are more than 200 in numbers. It was my responsibility to get them acquainted with our culture and tradition.

I got selected along with other volunteers of different colleges and corporate. I was one of the youngest volunteer among group which I should proud on it. Mr. Dhimant Upadhyay, chairperson of Vishvet Foundation has taken our orientation about the event, roles of individuals and team formation for the event.

My journey of this program begins with “Courtyard Marriot” Hotel one of the prestigious hotel of Ahmedabad where some of the Canadian guests are about to check in. I was there on time as per the schedule and met with other members of the team. Unfortunately a member of other team didn't turned down at the venue so I have taken responsibility to go to other venue and appointed other person in service.

I immediately went to “Holiday Inn Express” and tried my best to avoid any havoc situation among delegation. I learnt a lesson "Jo hota hai Ache ke liye hota Hai" because I met a wonderful team partner Miss Aditi Kulkarni  who not only have a very well convincing power but she has a very good communicative skills as well. We both were finally assigned duties at “Holiday Inn Express" for a day. Learnt a lot from Aditi as she was highly experienced person in professional as well as in study than me.

We have met with a group of businessmen in Hotel and managed to take memorable moments in our camera. We have given them schedule, hotel room and other facilities available for them at Vibrant Summit Venue. They were impressed with our work.

In evening when delegation came back to Hotel from Vibrant venue, we warmly welcomed the delegates. We also had an interaction with them regarding their experience of vibrant Gujarat . We have guided them for their dinner arrangements. We have taken leave from the Hotel by saying bye to guests and handover the desk to other team members.

The day after I also went to visit the Vibrant Gujarat exhibition, nearby Mahatma Mandir Gandhinagar with Vishvet members. While entering in exhibition first we found the statue of Unity of Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel. Individually as well as collectively people were taking their pics with the statue.

There were total 15 departments of several sectors like pharmaceutical, Automobile, Petroleum, Arms and Armaments and so on… The common thing was each company whether it is large or SME participated with same energy and excitement. It was a last day of exhibition though I found crowded domes in each exhibition hall. This exhibition area was too huge even though I managed to visit 3 domes. Best part of exhibition was to watch “Documentary on Mahatma Gandhi ji” which leads us back to our glorious history.

Last but not the least I am greatful to Vishvet Foundation for giving me wonderful opportunity to interact with foreign delegation and make them comfortable with Indian culture and food. I found myself comfortable while volunteering food and all other amenities were provided at best by Vishvet. I made many new friends and enjoyed with them during the program.

I would recommend all of my readers, friends and family members to visit the website of Vishvet Foundation www.vishvetfoundation.org, I am sure you will make your mind to be a part of any of the program running by this NGO in future. Thanks to 'Vishvet' for giving me such an unforgettable experience and heartly thanks to all Vishvet coordinators for being  so humble and co-operative throughout the program.

Thank you.
Ayushi

My Pre-Christmas Eve with Vishvet

Vishvet Foundation Pre-CHRISTMAS PARTY

It was a pleasant gesture for Vishvet Foundation to extending a warm invitation to a Pre-Christmas Party to celebrate and  interact with students at Trinity English Medium School in Ahmedababd , Gujarat . Vishvet Foundation is  working on promoting education and cultural exchanges and giving foreign guests a chance to participate and embrace local cultural events .

Christmas comes once a year and it is a time to be joyous and merry, to celebrate the birth of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. It’s a time to reflect and salute 2014 which has been a beautiful year and I believe  we are grateful for the milestones, for absolute privileges and  hiccups that we passed through; because despite all odds  we made it out stronger, better and more beautiful by the grace of God.

Trinity English medium school was celebrating a Pre- Christmas Party on the 23rd December 2014. It was a breathtaking event , kids accentuating talents and embracing the day with poise … there was a play of the birth of Jesus in the stables ,  Christmas carols  and  more celebratory dances .

It is such a beautiful thing to see smiles on innocent faces as they put together steps, toil and turn with colorful dresses, red and white costumes, it was legendary. it was a moment of remembrance and we were getting together  in one spirit was not only a societal integration  but also of spiritual oneness regardless of diversity aspect from Vishvet Foundation and team Merry Christmas !!!

" We had such a spectacular night .. the night was full of Christmas cheer, talent and tones of fun, we are very grateful to Vishvet, bravo!!"

An English Girl in My Home

Jaipur is a tourist place but there are rare opportunities to talk and live with them in our house. First time an Ahmedabad based NGO Vishvet Foundation has given me this opportunity through my CA teacher Mr. Rohit Pradhan who is also a Jaipur Coordinator of the organization. They were looking a volunteer host family to host a student of University of Cambridge. Ms Emma Hollows in Jaipur for a short stay. Ms. Emma a student of Social anthropology, came to India to learn about Indian culture, traditional costumes, education system and participating in Indian festivals which was also of my personal interest.

Student exchange, becoming host family etc. terms were not new for me as I have experienced it during my school days but didn't get such opportunity to host or become a guest to a foreign student. So when I heard about it immediately got ready to host her in my house.

Preparation before coming guest in home
